Silent Hill: Revelation 3D

I’m a Silent Hill fan – not so much the film as the games, especially Silent Hill 2 (and to a lesser extent 3) which for some people will probably go down in history as the greatest horror stories ever told (by some people I mean me and like 5 other guys who bothered to figure out what it was all about). This new film is set to be the story of Heather Mason from Silent Hill 3, the perpetually depressed (and with good reason) teenage girl who has to put up with some really hideous goings on.

It stars Sean Bean again (hooray) but is unfortunately directed by the fucking guy that did Solomon Kane (boo) which I found to be one of the worst films I have ever had the misfortune to try and stay awake through and generally speaking I like most films. So an alarm bell, for me at least, that this might be another case of the Silent Hill franchise getting ruined by people that have no idea what to do with it – I won’t spoil the storyline, but the plot of Silent Hill 2 is one of the most well thought out, sad, delicate and intricate horror stories in existence while subsequent Americanised versions have been generally pretty stupid. For some reason the ‘3D’ tag makes me think it will be extra stupid, I’m not sure why.

I suspect the new film won’t be half as disturbing as this video made by some of the artists from the games starring good old Pyramid Head who I hope makes an appearance in the new film although he is not in the Silent Hill 3 game. Not safe for work or for people with a fragile grip on reality:
